Currently shooting at Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin, ‘Reign’ charts the rise to power of Mary Queen of Scots in the 16th century when she arrives in France as a 15-year-old and is betrothed to Prince Francis against a backdrop of ‘sexual intrigue’.

The TV movie is a US/Irish co-production between CBS Studios, World 2000 Entertainment and Octagon Films and is to be distributed by the CW Network.

Directed by directed by Brad Silberling, the project is described as a ‘fantastical reimagining of the teenage Mary Queen of Scots’ and pitched as ‘Game of Thrones’ meets Sofia Coppola’s ‘Marie Antoinette’, according to industry reports.

Australian actress Adelaide Kane played Lolly on Neighbours and will next be seen in horror film ‘The Devil’s Rapture’ and ‘After the Fall’ starring David Duchovny.

The young cast of ‘Reign’ includes Anna Popplewell (The Chronicles of Narnia); Caitlin Stasey (Tomorrow, When the War Began); Megan Follows (I am Number Four); and Toby Regbo (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1).

As an historical figure, Mary Queen of Scots is also the subject of a big screen adaptation currently in development with Working Title Films for release in 2014 with Saoirse Ronan set to star and Michael Hirst (The Tudors, Elizabeth) writing the screenplay.
